Peterre took early retirement from teaching Computing at a university in England (which was indirectly a result of his falling out with the management over the way things were being run).

He and his wife live in Staffordshire, England, with frequent visits to and from his three children and seven grandchildren.

He writes software of various sorts for fun, and reads mainly nonfiction books, e.g. about machine learning, evolution by natural selection, computer programming, web design, nutrition, politics and psychology.
