Scorpaen was born in Lancaster, South Carolina on November 20th, 1974.

He fell in love with computing with his introduction to the Apple IIe in elementary school.

A bit of a strange fellow in his youth, he spent a lot of time in the school and public libraries devouring Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen King, Clive Barker and assorted fiction and non-fiction books.

He often had his flashlight confiscated by his mother and stepfather for staying up reading under the blankets.

After a disastrous and aimless three semesters of University, Scorpaen married a French exchange student and left for Paris, France shortly thereafter.

Three years of helpdesk for a router manufacturer later, Scorpaen and his wife divorced and he returned to South Carolina.

Scorpaen dove back into computing, enjoying his newly obtained broadband connection starting in 2002.

In 2004, Scorpaen crashed his Windows XP machine for the last time, wiped the machine clean, and installed Gentoo Linux.

Scorpaen continued his Information Technology career by working various pc technician, helpdesk and related jobs, eventually working his way up to Systems/Network Administrator in a small medical transcription firm.

Workaholic could be used to describe Scorp at this point. Eventually it took its toll and Scorpaen started to self-destruct... until one night on Undernet IRC he happened to be pursuing one of his favorite pastimes, Internet DJ, when he caught the attention of the lovely ariadneK. The month was April.

A few emails and phone calls were exchanged; next thing he knew he was walking out of the airport in Abilene, TX accompanied by the most lovely woman he'd ever met. Love replaced the self destruction which was tearing at his soul, and soon he made plans to move to Abilene to be with her.

Scorpaen now resides with his lovely fiancee ariadneK and their 14 year old kitty, Penny.
