Strangluv is Randy Dawson, a design engineer from the Clear Lake area of Houston Texas. I have been an independent electronics engineer for the past 13 years, consulting to large and small companies around the world. Prior to that I was employee #3 or 4 in a few high profile venture capital startups, the nerd that actually designed and built the thing for the suits. My area of expertise is both computer hardware and software, with emphasis on high reliability, real time systems for data acquisition and control. I also did a gig wayyyy back in the '70s processing the Apollo lunar mission data and looking at moonquakes. My computer had 16 kilobytes of memory, a four megahertz clock, two tons of cooling and it filled a room. Now you can put that power in your shirt pocket. My left brain, (or is it the right, not sure, I'm dyslexic) is involved in computer graphics, animation and imaging. I had a fun ride as the as the author of the Coaster program for the PC, which started out as a technical analysis and simulation of real roller coasters. I try not to geek out too much and overdose, however, so I play the guitar, clarinet and love to cook. My car is a spacecraft, a Harley Earl rocket ship with fins. It is a 1965 Cadillac, and it does not drive, it hovers. I have been known to wear a dirty T shirt, drink beer out of a can and change my own oil. My nickname comes from my love of Stanley Kubrick's films, especially Dr. Strangelove. Also the mensa channel is a great place to relax, share a few jokes, smiles, and always interesting, sometimes stimulating (you know who you are) conversation. randy AKA Strangluv email is dnasoc@swbell.net |
